Aviemore is a town and tourist resort, situated within the Cairngorms National Park in the Highlands of Scotland. It is in the Badenoch and Strathspey committee area, within the Highland council area. The town is popular for skiing and other winter sports, and for hill-walking in the Cairngorm Mountains with many restaurants and cafes an ideal place for our lunch stop

One of Scotland's most famous botanical gardens, Inverewe was created in the 19th century by Osgood Mackenzie on the shores of Loch Ewe. Thanks to the warming effects of the Gulf Stream, the gardens support an extraordinary collection of plants from around the world, including rhododendrons, Himalayan species, New Zealand shrubs and giant conifers. The gardens also offer stunning views across the loch to the mountains beyond.

Ullapool Museum

Located in the picturesque fishing village of Ullapool, the museum tells the story of the area's history, heritage and people. Exhibits cover the village's fishing industry, crofting life, maritime traditions and Highland culture.

The museum is housed in a former church and provides an interesting insight into life in the north-west Highlands.

Ullapool sits on a deep sea loch, Loch Broom, a significant natural harbour. As a result, Ullapool's port is regionally significant with ferries operated by Caledonian MacBrayne running from Ullapool to Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis.

It also serves leisure craft, commercial fishing vessels and cruise ships.

Achnasheen to Kyle of Lochalsh Rail Journey

Travel aboard one of Britain's most scenic railway lines.

The route passes through dramatic Highland landscapes, remote moorland, lochs and rugged mountain scenery.

As the train approaches Kyle of Lochalsh, passengers are treated to spectacular views towards the Isle of Skye and this surrounding sea lochs. This journey is widely considered one of Scotland's hidden railway gems.

Plockton- Situated on a sheltered inlet of Loch Carron, and due to the series of New Zealand cabbage trees which have dominated Harbour Street since the 1960s, Plockton has been described as having a distinctive "sub-tropical appearance". Most of the land around Plockton is within the Balmacara Estate, owned by the National Trust for Scotland.

Gairloch Area - During your four-night stay in Gairloch, there may be opportunities to explore this beautiful coastal region. Known for its sandy beaches, fishing heritage and breathtaking views towards Skye and the Outer Hebrides, Gairloch is a perfect base for discovering the North West Highlands.

Inverness- Discover Inverness, the heart of the highlands- stunning scenery, historic charm and highland hospitality . Explore the banks of the river ness, soak up the atmosphere of the city.

Our overnight hotel the Royal George hotel Perth

Located in the heart of The City of Perth, Scotland with stunning views over the River Tay!

Idyllically located on the banks of the River Tay in the heart of Perth, The Royal George Hotel has been attracting guests to Scotland since 1773, making 2026 our 253rd year in business!

Notable visitors have included Empress Eugenie and Queen Victoria, who made The Royal George Hotel her place of residence when she visited Perth in 1848. She was so impressed with its hospitality that The George Inn was renamed The Royal George Hotel in her honour, and both the Royal Warrant and two lamps, fashioned from the bed the monarch slept in, are still in the hotel today! With this Royal connection, we were delighted therefore to welcome her great, great, great grandson, HRH Prince Edward to The Royal George more recently.

The Stone of Destiny also returned to Perth in 2024, and conveniently, is located only 300m from the hotel and is free to view in the newly opened Perth Museum.
