The North West Castle Hotel is a family owned and run hotel for more than fifty years, ‘The Castle’ itself, was formerly the home of Sir John Ross, who was once a famous Arctic explorer. North West Castle is an excellent base for exploring the beautiful local area and hosts 72 ensuite bedrooms and leisure facilities including swimming pool, sauna, spa bath, gym and its very own indoor curling rink.


The Allingham Arms Hotel, named after a local 19th Century Poet, William Allingham is situated directly opposite the Atlantic Ocean on the beautiful coast of Bundoran, Co. Donegal. The Hotels Ocean restaurant offers picturesque views overlooking Donegal Bay. All bedrooms are ensuite and have television, telephone, hairdryer and tea & coffee making facilities. There is a lift.


• DAY ONE


Depart from your home area in the morning travelling to Stranraer for our overnight stay at the North West Castle Hotel - Dinner, Bed, and Breakfast.


• DAY TWO

After a leisurely breakfast, we catch the morning ferry to Belfast and continue West across Northern Ireland to the coastal town of Bundoran and the Allingham Arms Hotel. 4-night stay – Dinner, Bed and Breakfast.


• DAY THREE

Today we enjoy a drive along the coastline to the port of Sligo. Here, you are free to explore at your leisure, perhaps visit the Sligo County Museum where poems of the famous local poet William Butler Yeats are on display. After lunch, we journey to Belleek pottery famous for its fine China produced on site since 1857. We will enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour of the facility and learn the processes of manufacturing the famous China.


• DAY FOUR

This morning, we travel to the Slieve League Cliffs, at a staggering 609 Meters high above the North Atlantic Ocean these cliffs are a truly Spectacular sight. From the cliffs’ visitor centre, we board a minibus for a guided tour of the cliffs, when we will gain an insight into the local wildlife and spectacular geography of the area.

Later we return via Donegal where you enjoy some independent sightseeing. Perhaps enjoy a leisurely stroll around the Diamond Market Square, or up to Jacobean-period Donegal Castle.


• DAY FIVE

After breakfast, we travel south to Arigna Mining Experience where we enjoy a guided tour to learn the history and stories of the Irish mining industry. In the photographic exhibition can view original footage of miners at work before the closure of the mines in 1990. (This is a drift mine, meaning entry is ground level and there are no cages, lifts, or stairs on the tour. Fully accessible to all mobility devices with wide well-lit mine tunnels all flat no steps.)

Later, we journey to Carrick-On-Shannon where we board the Moon River for a 1-hour cruise on the River Shannon. During the cruise, we will be served tea, coffee, and Scones with music and commentary.


• DAY SIX

Today we depart our hotel travelling across Northern Ireland for our Ferry crossing to Cairnryan making our way to the North West Castle Hotel for our overnight stay – Dinner, Bed and Breakfast.


• DAY SEVEN

After breakfast, we continue our journey home with fond memories of our time in Ireland.
