Discover the picturesque fishing village of Robin Hood’s Bay, with its narrow streets and breathtaking coastal views. A historic fishing village located on the coast in North Yorkshire, with narrow cobbled streets winding down to the sandy beach with extensive rock pools and Jurassic fossils like ammonites. Renowned in the 18^th century as a major smuggling hub for tea, silk, rum, and tobacco, utilizing a maze of hidden passageways and connected houses.

Whitby, famous for its maritime heritage, abbey ruins and traditional seaside charm.

This is a lovely place. The little River Esk runs through a deep valley which broadens out as it comes near the harbour… The houses of the old town are all red-roofed and seem piled up one after the other anyhow…Right over the town is the ruin of the Abbey, a noble ruin of immense size. Between it and the town is another church, the Parish one, round which is a big graveyard, all full of tombstones. It descends so steeply over the harbour that part of the bank has fallen away, and some of the graves have been destroyed.”

Such was Bram Stoker’s description of Whitby in his novel Dracula, published in 1897. The wonder is that the townscape has changed so little in more than a century. Whitby is an ancient port with a fascinating history, a ruined abbey and a working harbour. It also has sandy beaches, donkey rides and rock pools, not to mention some of the best fish and chips in the world

Eden Camp Modern History Museum

Step back in time at the award-winning Eden Camp, a fascinating museum housed in an original prisoner-of-war camp, bringing Britain’s wartime history to life.

Malton - has strong historic connections, dating back to Roman times. Derventio, as it was known then, was an important Roman Fort. Much of this heritage is preserved in Orchard Fields. The area has been associated with racehorse training for many years, with 30 trainers in the area, and over 1,000 horses, it is often referred to as the Newmarket of the North. In recent years, Malton has fast gained a reputation as the food capital of Yorkshire, with its weekly market days, food production industries, and monthly food markets with a large two day food lovers festival in May each year. IT has a circular Market Place, slightly inclining, with central Church, old Town Hall (now a restaurant) and parking, all encircled by elegant shops and buildings. There are large linear shopping streets beyond this.

Goathland Heritage Rail Journey

FROM PICKERING TO GOATHLAND

The line from Whitby to Pickering was originally built as a horse-drawn railway in 1836, making it one of the oldest railways in the world. Goathland station became Hogsmeade station in the first harry potter film and featured as Aidensfield in the ITV programme Heartbeat.

The charming village of Goathland is just a few minutes’ walk up the bank from the station, with a range of shops and pubs. Goathland station has its very own shop and tearoom which is in a converted 1922-style good shed.

Enjoy a scenic journey through the spectacular North York Moors, including a visit to the picturesque village of Goathland, famous as “Aidensfield” from the TV series Heartbeat.

Pickering - Known as the "Gateway to the Moors" and said to be one of the oldest towns in the area (it dates back to at least 270 BC) Pickering is a fine town built on a hill, at the top of which a well-preserved castle looks down over the town.

Award winning sandy beaches, breath-taking coastline, wonderful family attractions and some of the best events in the country.

The town was founded in 966AD as Skarðaborg by Thorgills Skarthi, a Viking raider. But there is evidence of settlers on the Headland from 2,500 years ago. Scarborough Castle was built by Henry II.

In 1626, Elizabeth Farrow discovered a stream of acidic water running down the cliff and into the sea in the South Bay. The water healed ailments because of it's chemical make-up, much like stomach salts in chemists do today. A Dr Wittie book about the spa waters published in 1660 was a huge catalyst for visitors to 'Scarborough Spa' and the town became Britain's first seaside resort.

The famous old bathing machines didn't make an appearance until 1735.

The Dinosaur Coast-Superb fossil remains, along the Yorkshire coast near Scarborough, have given the area the title of Dinosaur Coast. Scarborough is home to its own museum of geology called The Rotunda Museum, situated next to the Spa Bridge in South Bay.
