• Based In Delightful Harrogate

• Ripley Castle • Historic York   • Cathedral City of Ripon

The Cairn Hotel dates back to the 18th century. This charming Victorian-era hotel has maintained many of its original features. Located just a short walk from the town centre and Valley. The hotel has a lift.

DAY ONE- Depart from your home area in the morning travelling to Yorkshire and arriving in time for dinner at the Cairn Hotel. 4 nights stay – dinner, bed and breakfast, plus ‘All Inclusive’ package. Welcome glass of fizz on arrival

• DAY TWO- Our first outing takes us to the city of York where you have the day to explore at your own pace. There’s so much to see and do. Visit National Railway Museum or The Jorvik Centre. See the magnificent York Minster. Explore the narrow streets and alleyways,

including the famous Shambles or walk the city walls. We return to the hotel late afternoon. A packed lunch is included today.

• DAY THREE - This morning we have a short drive to the village of Ripley. Here we enjoy a guided tour of historic Ripley Castle, home to the Ingilby family for over 700 years. The castle has many stories to tell, including that of Oliver Cromwell held at gunpoint in the library. From here we return to the hotel for a light lunch of soup and sandwiches.

The afternoon is then free to explore our base of Harrogate. With huge open spaces, broad tree-lined boulevards, antique shops and shopping malls, elegant buildings, and abundant greenery, flowers, and plants, it is little wonder that the town is a frequent winner of Britain in Bloom awards. Harrogate also boasts the world-famous Betty’s Tearooms, founded in 1919 by a Swiss confectioner. Just around the corner from Betty’s is Farrar’s of Harrogate, established in 1840 and best known for its Original Harrogate Toffee – the favourite sweetie of the late Queen Mother.

• DAY FOUR -We drive to Ripon, where the magnificent cathedral is well worth a visit. Today is market day in Ripon and you have a chance to browse the stalls set up in the beautiful market square before we head off along Nidderdale for a scenic ride via Summerbridge and Dacre. We return to the hotel for a light lunch followed by a final change to explore Harrogate.

• DAY FIVE -    After breakfast, we leave and make our way home.
